The 13th Regiment Maine Volunteer Infantry was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War.

Service[edit | edit source]

13th Maine was organized at Portland, Maine and mustered into Federal service for a three year enlistment on December 13, 1861.

The veterans and recruits of the 13th were consolidated to a single battalion and transferred to 30th Maine on December 25, 1864. Those soldiers who did not reenlist were discharged from service on January 5, 1865.

Total strength and casualties[edit | edit source]

The regiment lost 1 officer and 13 enlisted men killed in action or died of wounds and 3 officers and 178 died of disease for a total of 195 fatalities from all causes.[1]
